Capsules of Culture

Capsule of Culture is a quarterly event series curated by All Things Aligning that celebrates the Black films, music, and cultural moments that shaped us from the '90s and early 2000s, but this isn’t just about nostalgia. It’s about how those stories still speak to where we are now.

These weren’t just movies we watched. They were reflections of everyday life, our neighborhoods, our grief, our joy, our love, our resilience. These films were our experiences and gave us language for things we were feeling but didn’t always know how to say. And today, we use that same language to spark connection, healing, and growth.

Each event creates space to slow down and come together, whether it’s through panel conversations, workshops, mixers, or moments to be in community. We highlight the voices of local artists, educators, business owners, and wellness leaders who help us dig a little deeper into ourselves with each other.

It’s more than “living in the past.”
It’s about returning to the past, learning from it, and letting it move us forward.

The culture didn’t just entertain us. It shaped us.
And now, it gathers us.
